| abstract: | In atmospheric simulations, two turbulence closure schemes, large-eddy simulation (LES) and Mellor-Yamada-Nakanishi-Niino scheme (MYNN), are widely used. We summarize their basic design: what scales of turbulence are targeted, what assumptions are made, and what formulations are done. We also present several simulations by models with these schemes and attractive analyses of their results. |
