| Abstract |
Spectroscopic observation of planetary atmosphere enables us to measure the abundances of atmospheric constituents. Their spatial and temporal variability is a powerful tool to understand not only the atmospheric chemistry (photochemistry, aerosol chemistry, etc.) but also the thermal structure (as some chemical species play a significant role as the greenhouse gas) and the atmospheric dynamics (through the distribution of trace gases). In this CPS seminar, I will focus on the spectroscopic observation of Venus atmosphere and review the recent advances and future perspectives. The main topics to be presented will be the spatial and temporal variability of SO2 at the cloud top which is a key species to understand the atmospheric photochemistry and also cloud formation in Venus, and observed by the Doppler-shifts of atmospheric spectra. |
