| Abstract |
In rotating turbulence, we often observe some characteristic flow structures or velocity profiles such as a tornado or typhoon in the atmosphere of the Earth or stripe structure on the surface of Jupiter. However, the eddy viscosity, which is well known in turbulence modeling, provides the increase of effective viscosity; namely, we expect that it leads to the flat and uncharacteristic velocity profiles. In this study, we focus on the effect of helicity and introduce a phenomenon in which the velocity is generated against the eddy viscosity. Physical origin of the phenomenon is discussed with the aid of the numerical simulation and a turbulence model consistent with the flow generation is proposed. |
