Title: "Long-term changes in Japanese snowfall and snow cover simulated by a regional climate model"
Abstract: Recently, snowfall and snow cover have been decreasing due to global warming. In contrast, the frequency and intensity of extremely heavy snowfall events are projected to increase in a warming climate. In this seminar, I will present long-term changes in Japanese snowfall and snow cover simulated by a regional climate model. In particular, I will discuss long-term changes in the Japan Sea Polar Airmass Convergence Zone (JPCZ) and associated heavy snowfall, event attribution studies of heavy snowfall, and projected future changes in snowfall in Japan.
Keywords: Regional climate model, Climate change, Long-term changes in Japanses snowfall, event attribution study
