After 7 years challenging cruise in the solar system, the HAYABUSA
(MUSES-C) came back to the Earth and did re-entry into sky over
Woomera Prohibited Area (WPA), Australia at 13th June 2010. In order
to obtain precise trajectory information to ensure quick procedure of
JAXA’s SRC resumption team, we observed the HAYABUSA SRC re-entry at
WPA. Second purpose of our ground-based observation is scientific
observations (e.g., optical tracking, spectroscopy,
infrasound/seismic, etc…) for meteor sciences. Because of the direct
re-entry from interplanetary transfer orbit, the HAYABUSA SRC initial
re-entry velocity is about 12 km/s. So, the re-entry is a good
analogue for meteorite falls.
In this talk, I'll briefly introduce backgrounds of our ground-based
observations, and then introduce actual observation and preliminary
results of infrasound-seismic observation part of our ground-based
observations.
